# PriceTrail Privacy

## What stays on your device
Your product history, tracked items, alert targets, and sync settings live in
your browser's local extension storage. Optional personal sync sends them only
to a server URL you configure yourself, secured by your own token.

## Community price contributions (optional, on by default, toggle in popup)
When enabled and a community server is configured, PriceTrail contributes
anonymous price observations: the product's site and ID, the price, a
timestamp, the currency, and the product's title and URL. That is product
information, not personal information.

Contributions carry a random install identifier generated on your device. It
is not linked to any account, email, IP-derived profile, or identity, and is
used only for rate limiting and deduplication. PriceTrail never transmits your
browsing history, page contents beyond the product facts above, or anything
that identifies you.

Community history shown on product pages is an hourly median of contributions
from all users.

## Suggestions and requests (optional)
If you use the feedback form, your message is sent to the community server
along with your anonymous install ID (so replies can reference it) and the
extension version. Name and email are optional and only stored if you type
them. Feedback is readable only by the operator, never displayed publicly.

## What PriceTrail never does
No analytics, no tracking pixels, no ad networks, no selling of data, no
reading of pages other than supported retailers' product pages.

## Data removal
Uninstalling the extension deletes all local data. To remove past community
contributions, contact the server operator with your install ID (visible in
the popup's sync panel via your browser's extension storage).
